In winter, the Donnersbachtal turns into a fairytale world, with 2 snow-sure ski areas (Riesneralm and Planneralm) offering 50 km of slopes together. Planneralm, Styria's highest ski village, and the child-friendly Riesneralm, offer entertainment for every skier. Looking for variety? Try the natural toboggan run at Mörsbachalm or the nearby cross-country trails.
In summer, this location offers a unique holiday experience with activities such as 3D archery, the E-Enduro Bikepark, fly-fishing, the Gipfel pool at 1900 metres above sea level and there is a beautiful swimming pond about 2 km from the park. A heated swimming pool on the mountain peak of Riesnerkrispen offers spectacular 360-degree views. With these versatile possibilities, this chalet is the perfect base for an adventure holiday in any season

Summer August 2024 How much we enjoyed being in chalet Karibu. Beautifully perched on the edge of the small-scale park with about 35 cottages we could sit outside a lot on the veranda overlooking the mountains and a babbling brook. Our cottage had a lot of privacy Other cottages had less of this because the gardens were contiguous. In the evening it cools down a lot because it is a bit higher up. Chalet karibu was really fully equipped. A large sauna with adjacent double shower room Upstairs, there were 2 more bathrooms. So nice! In the kitchen, you can also find really everything. Really over complete. Mixer, blender, microwave, oven, cutlery lots of choice. Nice quiet area for hiking. If you want to be more touristy you do have to head more towards Zell am see. By car, it is about 1.5 - 2 hours' drive from Donnersbachwald.
We had a fantastic stay for the 2nd time with 2 families and children aged 12 - 23. Beautiful cottage, clean and really well equipped with beds made. About 8 min drive from an excellent ski area with blue and red slopes. We visited in spring break and it was very quiet. Again no queues for the lifts. Nice small ski area for families. Ski school available and great to book with nice teachers. Restaurant Basecamp at the bottom of the slopes is a cosy restaurant with very friendly people for an excellent affordable lunch. Location traffic jam-free access - not over Munich.
The house itself deserves 5 out of 5 stars. Complaining on a high level, a storage room and charging possibility for bicycles was missing; after all, Holland is the country of cyclists 😉. The valley itself is very lonely and lives more from winter tourism; nevertheless, you can also find charming and beautiful places to enjoy and relax in summer; like the Mösbachwirt.
A very beautiful house. Plenty of space in the living room, bedrooms and especially in the sauna. Unfortunately there is only one parking space, but according to the house brochure you are allowed to park a second car on the nearby turning ramp. The access road through the holiday village (House Karibu is at the very end of the access road, almost at the highest point) is quite steep, but was perfectly strewn during our stay. In general, the group of Arab men who look after the village took great care of their guests. A welcome by Whatsapp the day before arrival, arrival before 16h was no problem, a very friendly briefing - thank you very much!
Very nice holiday home, almost nothing was missing. The sauna in the house is really recommendable. In the kitchen, various kitchen utensils are missing, cutlery is also somewhat scarce. There is a wood-burning stove in the house, but there was no wood. This should be explicitly mentioned in the advertisement. The ski area is perfect, for adults and of course for children. Unfortunately, there is no proper supermarket or bakery in the village itself, both of which are about 20 minutes away. It is also worth mentioning that there is no ski bus from the chalet, which is a shame, so unfortunately you are forced to take your car to the lift.
Great holiday home... Large, modern, clean! Just great! Designed for all needs. Sauna and ski cellar perfect for winter holidays. Suitable for families, but also for couples' holidays. Great value for money. Always happy to come back!
Unfortunately we were not completely satisfied with the cleanliness (toothpaste residue in the sink, old mugs were still in the bathroom, old towels were still in the bedroom). Otherwise, the house is very nice. The handover of the keys also went smoothly.
