Hochoetz is located in the Austrian Alps, in the region of Tyrol. This ski resort is part of the larger Ötztal ski region. Two other nearby and well known ski resorts in this region are Sölden and Obergurgl-Hochgurgl.

The Hochoetz ski area has 37 kilometres of pistes: 12 kilometres of blue pistes for beginners, 21 kilometres of red pistes for intermediate skiers and 4 kilometres of black pistes for advanced skiers.
The ski area has 11 ski lifts: 2 gondolas, 5 T-bar lifts, 6 chair lifts and 2 conveyor belts. One of the gondolas is the Acherkogelbahn, which departs from Oetz. This modern gondola travels over 1,200 metres in just 8 minutes and provides fast access to the ski area. The Kühtailbahn has been upgraded to a modern 6-seater chairlift with canopy and built-in child safety.
The Hochoetz ski area has a number of marked runs, with a large number of blue runs in the middle of the area. This means that the area is not ideal for true beginners. However, the Ötztal offers plenty of opportunities for beginners. From Oetz you have the opportunity to travel to other nearby ski resorts.
Hochoetz is an ideal destination for families, with plenty of facilities for children and beginners. It offers WIDI's Kinderland, special children's courses and a children's theatre for an educational and entertaining experience. There is also WIDI's Funpark and a kindergarten with children's restaurant, making the resort an excellent choice for young skiers and their families.

Although the area is relatively compact, skiers can benefit from its proximity to the Kühtai ski area, which offers more variety.
For those who love speed and action, the Hochoetz ski area offers the SnowCross trail, an exciting course for both skiers and snowboarders. This course is equipped with numerous hills and jumps.
The Hochötz ski resort is known for its snow reliability. One of the reasons for this is that the entire area can be covered with artificial snow. Most of the pistes in Hochötz are above 1,800 metres, which guarantees the snow reliability of the ski area. The Ochsengarten valley lies at an altitude of over 1,538 metres, which means that the pistes are usually open throughout the season.

A trail for beginners starts in Ochtensgarten. It is over 5 kilometres long. In total there are over 140 km of cross-country trails in the Ötztal.
Paragliding:
Hochoetz is an excellent place for paragliding in both summer and winter, weather permitting.
Winter Hiking:
The Ötztal valley offers a varied hiking area with paths past waterfalls, mountain lakes and through forests. Popular destinations include the Piburger See, the Stuibenfall waterfall in Niederthai and the summit of the Hohe Mut in Obergurgl. For more experienced hikers there are challenging tours to huts such as the Martin-Busch-Hütte and the Similaunhütte.

The Hochoetz ski area has off-piste skiing, especially at the Wetterkreuz cable car in the Balbachtal valley. In other parts of the ski area you can ski along groomed slopes.
