Where is Obertauern located?
Obertauern is located in the Austrian province of Salzburg, in the Radstädter Tauern, at an altitude of between 1,630 and 2,315 metres. It lies to the south of Salzburg and is a well-known winter sports destination in the Alps.
Is Obertauern easy to reach?
Yes, Obertauern is easy to reach. It is located about 90 kilometres south of Salzburg and is usually reached via the Tauern Autobahn (A10). The road from Radstadt or Mauterndorf to Obertauern is well maintained and usually passable, even in winter. Public transport is also available, including ski buses and trains to Radstadt, from where you can continue by bus.

Obertauern is one of the most snow-sure ski resorts in Austria and offers excellent conditions from November to early May. There are around 100 kilometres of perfectly groomed slopes and modern lifts. There are slopes for all levels. The "Tauernrunde" makes it possible to explore the entire ski area without interruption. The "Tauernrunde" can be done in 2 directions, the red circuit leads through Obertauern with 9 lifts over 12 km.
