In the Zillertal, the Zillertal Arena is the largest ski area with its large, extensive area. It covers the region from Zell am Ziller, via Gerlos to Wald-Königsleiten, to Krimml-Hochkrimml in Salzburger Land. There are 143 kilometres of pistes here, up to an altitude of 2535 m and 51 lifts and/or gondolas. The Zillertal Arena is located in the Zillertal in Tyrol. It is the largest ski area in the Zillertal and stretches from the Zillertal in Tyrol to the Pinzgau.
The Zillertal Arena consists of several charming villages, all with direct access to the ski area.
Zell am Ziller
Zell am Ziller (580m) is the ideal gateway to the extensive ski area. It has a modern valley station and a variety of restaurants, après ski facilities and ski schools.
Gerlos (1247m)
A very lively resort with great après ski facilities and plenty of holiday apartments. From here you have direct access to the pistes and freeride areas.
Königsleiten
A picturesque mountain village at 1,600m above sea level. Königsleiten is ideal for families and has slopes for beginners and advanced skiers.
Hochkrimml
Hochkrimml (1700m) is known for its wide, sunny slopes and proximity to the impressive Krimml Waterfalls.
Wald im Pinzgau
From Wald im Pinzgau (885m) you have easy access to the pistes. As well as skiing, other activities on offer include winter walking and cross-country skiing. The proximity of the Krimml Waterfalls is another highlight that attracts many visitors.
A total of 150 kilometres of pistes are available, including 50 km of blue (easy), 88 km of red (medium) and 12 km of black (difficult) slopes. 52 modern lifts take skiers quickly to the slopes. snow parks, speed check slopes and ski movie slopes provide variety.
Yes, the Zillertal Arena offers family-friendly facilities such as children's ski courses, snow parks for the little ones and special family restaurants. Children are looked after in the Arena Kid's Clubs, while parents can ski undisturbed. The resort is also ideal for beginners, with plenty of easy pistes and practice slopes.
As well as skiing, there is much more to do: winter walking, guided snowshoe hikes, ice skating and tobogganing on specially prepared tracks. A highlight is the 7km Hainzenberg toboggan run, which is floodlit both day and night. Spas and water parks in the region offer relaxation.
There are several well known ski resorts close to the Zillertal Arena:
Mayrhofner Bergbahnen/Mountopolis
This ski area is located in Mayrhofen and includes the Penken and Ahorn areas. The Penken is known for its challenging ‘Harakiri’ piste, the steepest groomed run in Austria, while the Ahorn is more suitable for leisure skiers and families.
Hintertuxer Gletscher
The Hintertux Glacier is a year-round ski area and offers guaranteed snow 365 days a year. A breathtaking panorama awaits you at 3,250 metres above sea level. The area is particularly popular with freeriders and sporty skiers.
Zillertal 3000
This ski area comprises the Finkenberg, Rastkogel, Eggalm and Hintertux Glacier areas. A total of over 200 kilometres of pistes are available.
Hochzillertal-Hochfügen
This ski area offers over 85 kilometres of pistes and is renowned for its wide range of perfectly groomed slopes of all levels of difficulty.
Cross-country skiing is also possible in the Zillertal Arena. There are a number of cross-country trails with varying degrees of difficulty. Here is a small selection:
Hochkrimml: On the Gerlosplatte, high-altitude trails offer magnificent views and ideal conditions for cross-country skiing.
In Gerlos, several trails, including the popular reservoir trail, wind through a beautiful winter landscape. The trails are suitable for both classic technique and skating.
In and around Zell am Ziller there are trails along the Ziller River that are also suitable for beginners.
The Zillertal Arena offers several snowparks for freestyle fans. The highlight is the Gerlos Snowpark at the Vorkogel lift with kickers, rails and a chill area. Children can try their hand at the Kids Snowpark Gerlos.
The Hochkrimml fun park with easier elements is ideal for families and beginners, while the Kreuzwiese action park in Zell am Ziller has a bag jump and a ski movie course.
All parks are easily accessible, suitable for all levels and offer fun for everyone.
The Zillertal Arena is considered very snow-sure, with slopes up to 2,500 metres above sea level. This means natural snow. In addition, over 95% of the pistes are equipped with modern snow-making facilities, which ensure optimum conditions when required.
The higher areas, such as Hochkrimml, Königsleiten and Gerlos, benefit from their altitude and often guarantee good snow conditions well into the spring. Even in winters with little snow, the powerful snowmaking systems guarantee almost uninterrupted skiing.
For the Zillertal Arena ski area, there is the Zillertal Super Ski Pass, which is valid in all Zillertal ski areas: Zillertal Arena, Hochzillertal-Hochfügen, Mayrhofner Bergbahnen and Hintertuxer Gletscher. The ski pass covers more than 500 kilometres of pistes and gives access to 180 lifts.
Another option is to buy day or multi-day tickets, which are valid in the Zillertal Arena.
All ski passes also allow you to use the free ski buses and the Zillertal Railway to travel comfortably between ski areas. Prices vary depending on the season and duration of the ski pass.
The Zillertal Arena and its surroundings offer a wide and varied après-ski experience. In Gerlos, the famous après-ski mile is an absolute highlight. Bars such as the *Little London* or the Cin Cin, known for their exuberant party atmosphere, line this street. This is where winter sports enthusiasts can party late into the night after a day's skiing.
In Königsleiten, the Hannes Alm scores with its cosy atmosphere and rustic hut charm. It is ideal for those who prefer to enjoy après-ski in a relaxed atmosphere.
Outside the Zillertal Arena, don't miss Mayrhofen, where the Yeti Bar and the legendary *Kasermandl* provide a party atmosphere. Another recommendation is the Schirmbar in Fügen, which offers a convivial end to the day and is easy to reach thanks to its central location.

The Zillertal Arena has a well-developed ski bus network that transports winter sports enthusiasts free of charge. The buses are scheduled to coincide with the lift operating times.
The ski buses (free with ski pass) connect the villages of Zell am Ziller, Gerlos, Königsleiten and Hochkrimml, and also take you to the surrounding areas outside the Zillertal Arena, such as Fügen or Kaltenbach.
