The Katschberg-Aineck ski area is located on the border between the provinces of Salzburg and Carinthia. The area lies between the villages of Sankt Margarethen and St Michael im Lungau. This area is part of the Lungau, an area known for its beautiful mountain scenery and friendly atmosphere.

By car:
Katschberg-Aineck is close to the Tauern Autobahn (A10). Exit at St. Michael im Lungau or Rennweg am Katschberg for quick access.

Katschberg-Aineck is a very attractive ski area for winter sports enthusiasts of all levels. The area is situated on 2 mountains, the Katschberg and the Aineck. There are several ski huts along the slopes where you can take a break.
Ski runs and slopes:
Katschberg-Aineck has about 80 km of slopes, divided into
12 km of blue, 70 km of red and 12 km of black slopes. The slopes are groomed daily.
On the Königswiese you can ski in the dark (between 19.00 and 21.00), which can extend your skiing day.
A very tough run is the Direttissima, which is one of the steepest runs in Austria. The long descent from the Aineck is also a nice challenge.
The lifts here are modern with 3 gondolas, 5 chairlifts and 8 T-bar lifts.
Katschberg-Aineck is known as a family friendly ski resort. Katschis Kinderwelt" is an attraction for the little ones, with playful ski courses and entertainment.

St. Margarethen im Lungau
St Margarethen im Lungau (1065m) is one of the main villages in the Katschberg-Aineck ski area. The village lies in the valley and is easily accessible from the motorway. From the village, the 8-seater Silverjet 1 gondola takes you quickly to the Aineck slopes. There are several valley slopes.
The village is an ideal starting point for an enjoyable winter holiday!
Mariapfarr (1119m) is known for its peaceful and family friendly environment. There are many holiday homes and apartments in Mariapfarr. The historic church is well worth a visit.
Mauterndorf (1123m) is a historic market town with a cosy village centre. Here you will find everything you need for your holiday. From Mauterndorf you can also access the Grosseck-Speiereck ski area by cable car.
Rennweg am Katschberg (1143m) is located in the south of the ski area, in Carinthia, on the border with Salzburg. Rennweg am Katschberg is about a 10 minute drive from the ski lifts. It is an authentic and cosy village. In summer you can go hiking, cycling and mountain biking. Rennweg is definitely a nice place to rent a holiday home!
St. Michael im Lungau (1075 m) St. Michael is close to the Tauern motorway. The village lies at the foot of the Großeck-Speiereck ski area. From St Michael you can choose where you want to go. It is a cosy village with all the amenities for a great holiday.
Yes, the Katschberg - Aineck ski area is normally snow-sure. Due to its location at an altitude of up to 2220 metres, natural snow is guaranteed. In addition, there are numerous snow cannons at Katschberg - Aineck. The season runs from the beginning of December to the end of March.
There is much more to do in Katschberg - Aineck than just skiing. There is an ice-skating rink for those who like to skate, or you can go curling. You can also take a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride or join a torchlight procession.

Yes! With over 200 kilometres of cross-country ski trails, the Lungau region offers extensive opportunities for cross-country skiing and hiking. There are several trails in St Margarethen and the other villages in the area. Near St Michael, for example, is the beautiful Murtalloipe. This track is no less than 22 kilometres long.

There are several ski pass options for this resort. Ski pass prices depend on season, age and duration. Ski passes are available for different periods of time, from half-day passes to multi-day passes and season passes.

A second option is to buy the Ski Lungau Card, which gives you access to the Großeck-Speiereck and Katschberg-Aineck ski areas in addition to Fanningberg Großeck-Speiereck.
The third option is the Lungo ski pass. Valid in Obertauern, Grosseck-Speiereck, Fanningberg and Aineck-Katschberg. The Lungo ski pass gives you access to 59 lifts and 300 km of pistes.
