The Grosseck-Speiereck ski area is located in the Lungau region of Salzburgerland in Austria.
The ski area is easily accessible via the A10 Tauern motorway, about 5 kilometres from the St. Michael exit. Within the resort there is a ski bus service that takes you to the villages.
Großeck-Speiereck is a beautiful ski resort! You will find excellent slopes for skiing and snowboarding. Thanks to modern snow cannons, the slopes are always in good condition, even when there is less snow. The winter season at Grosseck - Speiereck usually lasts until the beginning of April.
There are many blue and red slopes in the area, making it ideal for beginners and families. Advanced skiers may find the area less challenging, although the higher and steeper sections are still quite demanding. You can also enjoy cross-country skiing, walking and sledging.

The towns of Mauterndorf and St Michael im Lungau are close to the ski resort.
Mauterndorf (1123m) is a historic market town with a charming village centre. Close to the town is Mauterndorf Castle. From Mauterndorf you can take the cable car directly to the Grosseck-Speiereck ski area.
The village has everything you need for your holiday, including a supermarket, bakery, butcher, restaurant and après-ski bars. On Ferienhaus-Tirol you will find a large selection of holiday homes, apartments and chalets in Mauterndorf.
St. Michael im Lungau (1075m) is the second village from which you can access the Grosseck-Speiereck ski area. The valley station of the Sonnenbahn is on the outskirts of St. Michael. St Michael is a cosy village with all the amenities for an enjoyable holiday.
In summer you can enjoy fantastic cycling, mountain biking and walking. There are over 1000 kilometres of cycle paths in the area. This is also a good choice for families with children!

These ski areas have snow guaranteed slopes with mainly easy to medium difficulty runs. This makes Lungau-Katschberg ideal for beginners and families with children.
Looking for some extra miles of slopes nearby? The Fanningberg and Aineck ski areas are close by. You can use the free ski bus to get there. The Obertauern ski area is also close by.
Yes! With more than 200 kilometres of cross-country ski trails, the Lungau offers extensive opportunities for cross-country skiing and hiking. At the Grosseck-Speiereck ski area, near St. Michael, you will find the beautiful Murtalloipe. The track is no less than 22 kilometres long. Along the way you will be rewarded with stunning views of the Lungau mountains.
Tobogganing is part of your winter holiday in Austria! Both Mauterndorf and St. Michael im Lungau have toboggan runs.
In Mauterndorf, the toboggan run is at the Speiereckhütte, which takes you up to the top of the Grosseck cable car in Mauterndorf. It's a bit of a hike from there.
In St. Michael there is a bus transfer to the 1.5km toboggan run. The bus leaves from the Petersbründl lift mountain station.
The resort offers several off-piste options. There are several runs with deep snow and unprepared slopes, which are very attractive for experienced skiers and snowboarders.
There are several ski pass options for this resort. Ski pass prices depend on season, age and duration. Ski passes are available for different periods of time, from half-day passes to multi-day passes and season passes.

A second option is to buy the Ski Lungau Card, which gives you access to the Fanningberg and Katschberg-Aineck ski areas in addition to Großeck-Speiereck.
The third option is the Lungo ski pass. Valid in Obertauern, Grosseck-Speiereck, Fanningberg and Aineck-Katschberg. The Lungo ski pass gives you access to 59 lifts and 300 km of pistes.

Après ski here is not very loud or exuberant. But there are plenty of cosy après-ski bars. For example, the Liftplatzl at the bottom of the Sonnenbahn in St. Michael.
For cosy après-ski in Mauterndorf, try the Fliegenpilz or the Schi Alm.
Of course, you can also take ski lessons in the Großeck-Speierck ski area. In Mauterndorf at Skischule Mauterndorf and in Sankt Michael im Lungau at Skischule Sankt Michael. Both ski schools offer courses for children, adults, beginners and advanced skiers. In both places, you can also rent your ski equipment.
