The Mountopolis ski area in Mayrhofen is considered snow-sure. The ski area stretches up to around 2,500 metres, where there is usually plenty of snow in winter. Access is via the Ahornbahn and the Penkenbahn.
Most of the pistes are also equipped with modern snow cannons, which can quickly make enough snow when needed. If the snow leaves something to be desired, there is the Hintertuxer Glacier, a little further down the Zillertal.
You can also go cross-country skiing in the area, for example in Mayrhofen and Hippach, where there are around 33 km of trails. There are also many kilometres in the other resorts, such as Finkenberg.
Mountopolis is part of the big Zillertal 3000 ski area, which also includes the Hintertux Glacier, with more than 200 kilometres of slopes. The Zillertal is also home to the Zillertal Arena. There is truly no shortage of winter sports in this region.
