Where is the Seefeld - Leutasch ski resort?

The Seefeld - Leutasch ski area is known as the Seefeld Olympic Region. The village of Seefeld is situated on a high plateau in the Tyrolean Alps, about 20 kilometres north-west of Innsbruck. The neighbouring community of Leutasch extends west of Seefeld along the Leutasch Valley.

The region is renowned for its picturesque alpine scenery and offers everything for a wonderful winter or summer holiday.

How big is the skiing area Seefeld?

The Seefeld ski area has around 30 kilometres of pistes. It offers a variety of pistes with different levels of difficulty. There are 21 kilometres of blue runs (easy runs), 9 kilometres of red runs (medium difficulty runs) and 1 kilometre of black runs.  

The most famous slopes in the area are:

Rosshütte: One of the largest and most popular parts of the resort. There are blue, red and black slopes.
Gschwandtkopf: Another important area with blue and red slopes. Gschwandtkopf is popular with families and beginners.
Geigenbühel: A smaller area which is very suitable for beginners.
Birkenlift: Also an area ideal for children and beginners.

The region is also well known for its extensive network of cross-country trails, totalling over 245 kilometres.

How many and what types of lifts are there?

The Seefeld - Leutasch ski area in the Seefeld Olympic region offers a variety of lifts to take skiers and snowboarders to the various pistes. There are a total of 30 lifts in the area.
The main lifts are the Rosshüttenbahn, the Härmelekopfbahn and the Gschwandtkopfbahn.  

Is the Seefeld ski resort suitable for beginners?

Yes, the Seefeld - Leutasch ski area is very suitable for beginners. The Olympiaregion Seefeld offers a wide range of opportunities for both beginners and families to enjoy a winter sports holiday.

​​​​​​​There are many blue runs, such as the Geigenbühel. This ski area in Seefeld is ideal for beginners with wide and gentle slopes. The Birkenlift is also a good place for beginners to practice. In total, Seefeld has 21 kilometres of blue pistes that are easy to ski. 

Is the snow guaranteed at Seefeld - Leutasch?

The slopes around Seefeld and Leutasch range from around 1100 to 2065 metres above sea level. With a northerly flow in winter, the Seefeld high plateau always receives plenty of fresh snow. The area is considered one of the most snow-sure in Tyrol.

Is the resort suitable for advanced skiers?

Yes, the Seefeld - Leutasch ski area is also ideal for advanced skiers. The Olympiaregion Seefeld offers about 10 km of red and black slopes. Pistes that are a challenge even for experienced skiers. The red and black runs are located on the Seefelder Joch and the Härmelekopf. 

Is there a snowpark at Seefeld?

The Seefeld Snowpark is located at the Rosshütte, the 'Crazy Hole' fun park (360 metres long) offers quarter pipes, double waves, oversized turns and rails.

Is there cross country skiing in Seefeld?

Seefeld is a well-known cross-country skiing centre and offers excellent conditions for cross-country skiers. The Olympiaregion Seefeld is known for its extensive and well-maintained network of cross-country trails.

Leutasch is also a paradise for cross-country skiers, with 150 kilometres of trails, the most famous of which is the Achenloipe. Thanks to the high altitude and modern snow-making facilities, Seefeld is very snow-sure and often offers the best conditions well into spring. The night trail in Seefeld is floodlit, allowing cross-country skiing in the dark.

Several cross-country ski schools offer courses for beginners and advanced skiers, including the Seefeld Ski School and the Leutasch Ski School.

Which ski pass do I need?

In the different areas of Seefeld - Leutasch you can always buy a ski pass for the respective area. The most convenient way is to buy the Happy Ski Card. This allows you to use all the lifts in Seefeld - Leutasch at the same time.

What are the après ski options in Seefeld?

There are several bars, hotels and restaurants in the centre of Seefeld where you can end your day's skiing with music and a good atmosphere. At the Gschwandtkopf valley station, the Schirmbar and the Sportalm Schneebar are the places to go for après-ski. Things are a little more relaxed at the Rosshütte.
