The Rifflsee ski area is located in the Pitztal valley, close to the Pitztal glacier and the Hochzeiger ski area. Together these resorts offer an excellent range of pistes. The Rifflsee ski area is accessed by the Rifflsee cable car from the small village of Mandarfen (1640m).
There is plenty of accommodation in the village of St Leonhard im Pitztal, close to the Rifflsee ski area. You can also find holiday homes, group houses and apartments in the other villages of Jerzens, Wenns and Arzl. The Rifflsee cable car can be easily reached by car or ski bus.
The Rifflsee ski area stretches from 1,680 to 2,880 metres above sea level and has over 18 kilometres of slopes. Of these, 9.5 kilometres are blue, easy pistes, 4.5 kilometres are red, medium difficulty pistes and 4.4 kilometres are black, challenging pistes. There are also 3 kilometres of cross-country ski trails and no less than 9 kilometres of off-piste runs. For cross-country skiers, there are 5 kilometres of high-altitude trails at an altitude of around 2,200 metres.

The Rifflsee ski area has good lifts, consisting of a 6-seater gondola lift, a 6-seater chairlift, two 4-seater chairlifts and two T-bar lifts.
The pistes at Rifflsee are varied and will appeal to all levels of skier. As about half of the slopes are blue, beginners can definitely come here. But more experienced skiers will also enjoy themselves here. The black run down the Grubenkopf is a real treat!
The Rifflsee Talfahrt takes you to the Glacier Express, which quickly takes you to the Pitztal Glacier ski area with another 40 kilometres of slopes.
There is no snowpark in the resort itself. There is a snowpark on the nearby glacier and in the Hochzeiger ski area.
The Rifflsee ski area lies at an altitude of 1,640 to 2,800 metres and is virtually snow-sure from December to the end of April.
At the lake, Rifflsee, there is a beautiful cross-country trail of about 5 km at an altitude of about 2,200 metres. There are also plenty of opportunities in the surrounding area: the Pitztal valley has over 100 kilometres of groomed tracks.
You can definitely go off-piste here! The black ski route from the Sunna Alm, for example. But the Pitztal Göetscher is also a great place for freeriding!
There are several ski and snowboard schools in the area. All ages and levels are catered for. You can usually choose between group or private lessons. You can also hire skis and other winter sports equipment from the various ski hire shops in Pitztal.
The Pitztaler Glacier & Rifflsee ski pass is valid in these 2 areas. The Rifflsee Talabfahrt takes you to the Glacier Express on skis.
Ski buses run several times a day from all villages to the Pitztal ski areas. You can use them free of charge with a valid ski pass.
